Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Mrs. Betty Cofield Bowen passed away on July 10, 2024, after a brief illness in Savannah, Georgia.  She was born in LaGrange, Georgia on January 27, 1936, to the late Wyley Phillip Cofield and Gayle Haynes Cofield.  She is also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. (Gene) Bowen. Betty is survived by her son, Keith Bowen (Shay Bowen) and her grandson, Luke Cofield Bowen, all of Savannah.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they make their way through this challenging time.

Betty loved music and played piano at her church, Wehadkee Baptist Church, for many years. Betty also loved a home improvement project, whether it was finding the perfect plants for her yard or installing wallpaper.  This DIY trait lives on in Keith although wallpaper does not bring him the same joy.  Later in life, Betty moved to Savannah to be closer to her family.  She was always a ready audience for Luke’s stories and antics.  Her sweet smile and kind manner will be missed.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11 AM at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand.  The family will receive friends from 10 AM until service time on Friday.  The committal service will directly follow the funeral and will be held at Shadowlawn Cemetery.  Pastor Nick Pilgrim will officiate the services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty Bowen’s memory to the St Andrew’s School, Office of Advancement, 601 Penn Waller Road, Savannah, GA 31410 or at https://saslions.com/giving
