Catherine Sue Goodwin, 69, was called to be with the Lord early in the morning on July 23, 2024. She died peacefully while at the hospital in the loving company of her sister.

Catherine was born in LaGrange, Georgia. She was the eldest of three girls, but she often humorously claimed to be the youngest. After graduating from LaGrange High School, she attended Young Harris College before returning to her hometown.

For 40 years, Catherine was a dedicated employee in the Radiology Department at West Georgia Medical Center.

She was a collector of teapots and nutcrackers and had a keen interest in art. She and her mother, Sue Goodwin, shared memorable travels throughout Europe over the years and enjoyed chronicling the family’s history all the way back to the American Revolution.

A lover of animals, Catherine’s home was a haven for horses, dogs and cats.

She took great pride in showing her Pomeranian, Buff, in dog shows throughout Georgia. She was also a loyal sports fan, closely following the Braves, the Atlanta Falcons, and college football, often watching games with her late father, Bill.

Catherine is preceded in death by her father, William “Bill” Goodwin and her sister, Virginia Goodwin Lovell. She is survived by her mother, Sue Goodwin, and her sister, Mary Lawrence “Laurie” Goodwin Reece (Verlyn). Her legacy is continued through her nephew and nieces, William Adrian Lovell, III (Lauren), Jennifer Lovell Lewis (Kellan), and Lindsey Reece Bryant (Dusty). Great nephews and niece, William Adrian Lovell, IV, Tilson Ballard Lovell, Edwin Lawrence Lovell, Henry Buckingham Lewis, Virginia Joyce Lewis, John Griffin Lewis, Reece Theodore Bryant and Maxwell James Bryant.

Funeral services for Ms. Goodwin will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 2 PM with visitation from 1-2 PM at New Covenant Baptist Church Pine Mountain, GA. Interment to follow at Hillview Cemetery in La Grange, GA.
