LAGRANGE, Georgia – On August 14, 2024, at 3:30pm, officers responded to a report of a stabbing at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Georgia. The victim was being treated for a non-life-threatening stab wound. The Criminal Investigations Division launched an investigation, suspecting that the victim was attacked by his girlfriend, Tasha Newton, at the Budget Inn (100 Hill Street) earlier that day.

Later in the evening, Newton was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and aggravated stalking. It was discovered that Newton was under a conditional bond to stay away from the victim at the time of the incident.
