Peter Alford is a well-known attorney in LaGrange and a popular one too, as evidenced by his earning the LaGrange Daily News Best Attorney award for 2024.

His son, Peter Thomas Alford Jr., or P.T. as he is often called, is continuing the family legacy at the Alford Law Group here in LaGrange.

The younger Alford, 28, was born and raised in LaGrange and has lived here his entire life.

The Alford Firm specializes in family law, personal injury law, and criminal law, and does most forms of civil litigation including contract disputes, landlord-tenant law and everything in between.

“We call our firm a ‘threshold’ law firm because if any problem comes through the threshold of our front door, we figure it out for our clients,” Alford said.

Alford earned his undergraduate degree from LaGrange College and studied law at Mercer University. He has practiced law at the Alford Law Group since passing the bar exam in

October but also worked at a personal injury law firm and did public defender work for Houston County while at Mercer.

Growing up in LaGrange, Alford said he wasn’t always the best student. He said his grades kept him out of the University of Georgia where he had planned to transfer. At LaGrange College he began to thrive with the help of a pair of professors, Dr. Jeffrey Lukken and Dr. John Turres, who helped change his life.

.“These two professors played an integral role in not only my college experience but also helped me to become a better person outside of the classroom. We are still in touch today and they still lend advice and a helping hand whenever they can,” Alford said.

Afford said these days he spends the majority of my time working in juvenile court as a parent attorney. He said his favorite thing about his job is seeing the smiles on my client’s faces when they help we solve their biggest life problem at the time and win their case.

“People usually come to my office at the lowest times of their life. They are usually scared and do not have the legal knowledge to know how to solve the respective complex legal issues that they are facing. It brings me joy to see the smile on their faces and ultimately the sheer relief when they get the result they were looking for and the case is finally behind them,” Alford said.

Afford is an avid golfer and member of the Highland Country Club. I love to play golf, so I spend a lot of my time out there. He also serves as a board member at the First Tee of Troup County.

P.T. is married to Alyssa Marie Alford, who tied the knot in September last year. They currently do not have children, but hope to have children very soon.

They attend St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in LaGrange.
