On Thursday afternoon, the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of Gray & Grace Beauty Lounge and Extension Bar with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Owner of the beauty lounge, Larkin Cole, said she was destined to be a hairstylist.
“I started doing hair when I was 12 years old in my kitchen, and I drove my mama absolutely insane. I couldn’t tell you how many folks I had coming in and out of my house,” Cole said.
“When I was little, this is what I was going to do and where I was going to go, and everybody’s just supported me getting here,” she said.
Many of Larkin’s family members were in attendance at the packed-out ribbon cutting. She thanked them for their support over the years.
“I wouldn’t be able to do it without y’all, and I wouldn’t be able to do without God,” Cole said. “I just thank y’all for your time and for all supporting me. I hope that y’all feel the love and light that God has given me and my girls, and welcome to Gray and Grace.”
Cole was born and raised in LaGrange and graduated from LaGrange High School. She said she knew what she wanted to do from a young age so after becoming a licensed hair stylist she decided to set up shop.
Cole said she personally specialized in blonding and hair extensions but all of the girls in the salon are extension certified.
“Two of us are educators, but we do color cuts, anything you can think of, we can get done for you,” she said.
Cole said the salon has been open for about three weeks and things are going well. She said she wanted to do the ribbon cutting to invite everyone in to see the salon and get a feel of it and who they are.
Gray & Grace Beauty Lounge and Extension Bar is located at 422 New Franklin Road Suite D in LaGrange.
