UPDATE: Motel 6 shooting determined to be accidental, woman charged

Police have charged a woman for allegedly false statements related to an incident at the Motel 6 in LaGrange where a man was shot.
On Monday morning, Sarah Long turned herself into police and has been charged with tampering with evidence and making false statements related to the motel shooting.
Police began investigating the incident on the night of Aug. 13, around 11 p.m. Officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to Motel 6 on Lafayette Parkway upon report that a person had been shot.
Officers arrived to find the male victim suffering from a gunshot wound and he was rushed to an Atlanta area hospital for emergency treatment. At the time, police were unable to determine the exact location where the incident took place or the shooter.
After further information, police were able to determine the incident was an accidental shooting incident that took place inside a motel room.
Long is currently being held at the Troup County Jail on $3,000 bond.
