Tropical Depression Gilma: Thursday, Aug 29 update from the National Hurricane Center on latest developments

The National Hurricane Center’s 10 am Thursday advisory reported that Gilma has reached new lows of intensity and has downgraded from a tropical storm to a tropical depression.

Tropical Depression Gilma is 285 miles east of Hilo Hawaii and 480 miles east-southeast of Honolulu Hawaii, with maximum sustained wind of 35 mph. It’s moving 14 mph to the west.

“Gilma is expected to dissipate near Kauai on Saturday.” according to analysts. “Continued gradual weakening is expected, and Gilma is expected to weaken to a remnant low by tonight.”
