College football is back. Week one of the college football season has wrapped and the season is ready to get into full swing. This means that Troup alum and current University of Central Florida wide receiver Kobe Hudson is back on the gridiron.
Through just one game of the season, Hudson leads the Knights in receiving yards with 61. The Knights blew out New Mexico 57-3 to start their season last Thursday and the team did not need to pass the ball around late in the game.
Before the reserves entered the game, Hudson caught two passes, one on an acrobatic 46-yard catch down the left sideline and the other on a 15-yard reception.
Hudson was second on the team in receptions (44), yards (900) and first in touchdowns (8).
Hudson is in his fifth season playing college football — third with the Knights — and this could very well be his final run in the college ranks.
Hudson is joined by two other Troup alumni in Orlando. Redshirt freshman wide receiver Dwartney Wortham and true freshman linebacker Qua Birdsong find themselves suiting up for the Knights. Wortham redshirted in 2023 after playing in two games his freshman year. Both players will look to earn bigger roles this season and in the future.
The Knights will host Sam Houston State University on Saturday as they look to move to 2-0 to start their season.
