Lois Heard Smith, age 92, of LaGrange, passed away on September 10, 2024. She was born on March 27, 1932, to the late John Shelby Heard and Lizzie Massengale Heard.

A long-standing and devoted member of Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church in LaGrange, Mrs. Smith served her church community faithfully in many capacities over the years. Her deep commitment to her faith was evident in all that she did. She was a loving and devoted mother who cherished her children above all else, but her heart also held a deep affection for her husbands, family, and friends. Mrs. Smith found her greatest joy in the warmth of her home, where she was an incredible cook and baker, she was crafty and artistic.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Arlin E. Brown and Charley D. Smith, Jr.; her son, Owen H. Brown; her brother, Louie Heard; and two siblings, who passed away in their youth.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Brown Garrard of Peachtree Corners, Georgia; her granddaughter, Emily Brown of Lineville, Alabama; three sisters, Ann Walker of Calhoun, Georgia, Gladys Heard of Franklin, Georgia, and Carolyn Crews of Greenville, Georgia; her brother and sister-in-law, William and Wilma Heard of Thomaston, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter-Allen-Myhand on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until the service begins.
