Here is the latest track for #helene as of 7 am. Impacts are still expected for north and central Georgia Thursday into Friday.
Tropical Storm Watches have been issued for portions of central Georgia.
A Tropical Storm watch is issued when storm conditions are possible, typically within 48 hours. NWS recommends preparing your home with emergency supplies and keeping devices charged. A warning is issued when conditions are expected, and citizens should seek shelter.
Chambers County across the Alabama line and Harris County have both been raised to Tropical Warnings.
There is a flood watch for all of north and central Georgia through Friday. Heavy rainfall with Helene will likely lead to flooding concerns across north and central Georgia and now is the time to prepare. The Service recommends not driving in these conditions.
Lastly, as Helene tracks northward short lived tornadoes will be possible to the east of the center. Helene will be moving through the area overnight so please have multiple ways to receive warnings!
