Category 1 Hurricane Kirk: Tuesday, Oct 1 development update from the National Hurricane Center

The National Hurricane Center’s 10 pm Tuesday advisory reported that Kirk has become a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 75 mph after intensifying from a tropical storm. Category 1 Hurricane Kirk is 1115 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, with maximum sustained wind of 75 mph. It’s moving 13 mph to the northwest.

“Additional strengthening is forecast during the next few days and Kirk is expected to become a major hurricane by Thursday.” forecasters noted.

The tropical storm Kirk has developed into a Category 1 hurricane with winds of 75 miles per hour.

YESTERDAY (Monday):

Yesterday, the system strengthened enough to get a name: Tropical Storm Kirk. It found new strength and evolved from a tropical depression into a tropical storm with sustained winds of 75 miles per hour.
