As per the National Hurricane Center’s 4 pm Wednesday update, Category 1 Hurricane Kirk is 1330 miles west-northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands and 1165 miles east-northeast of the Lesser Antilles, with maximum sustained wind of 90 mph. It’s moving 12 mph to the northwest. Kirk is forecast to change into a hurricane.

YESTERDAY (Tuesday):

Yesterday, Kirk reached new heights of intensity and was upgraded from a tropical storm into a Category 1 hurricane, with winds blowing at 75 miles per hour.

HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND:

SURF: Swells generated by Kirk are beginning to spread outward and could affect portions of Leeward Islands and Bermuda by this weekend. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
