The Lafayette Christian football team kept the good times rolling on Friday, beating Community Christian 19-0 on the road for their third win in a row.
The Cougars would take an early 6-0 lead when David Karvelas connected with Johnathan Ross on a 55-yard touchdown pass.
This would not be the final time that Karvelas and Ross made a big connection. The duo came up with a huge third and long conversion in the second quarter that set up a Noah Childree 2-yard touchdown run to put the Cougars up by two scores (13-0).
The Karvelas-Ross connection would continue into the second half. The two would connect on a 65-yard touchdown that would put the Cougars up 19-0 with 9:08 left in the third quarter.
Karvelas threw for 270 yards in the game with 212 of those going to Ross.
The Cougars offense relied on the big plays on Friday night and they were able to get more than enough with the defense putting in their best shift of the season.
The defense pitched its first shutout of the year for the Cougars. It was the third out of seven games on the season in which the Lafayette Christian defense has not let the opponent crack double figures, proving to be one of the elite defenses in GAPPS this season.
Parker Otto led the team with 13 tackles.
Lafayette Christian improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in region play this season. The Cougars will travel to take on New Creation next Friday.
