This weekend, the Junior Service League’s eighth annual Taste of the Town is set to return on Oct. 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Overlook Plaza in LaGrange.

The free family event allows local artisans, restaurants, bakers, brewers, barbecuers and everyone in between to show off their wares in a festival-style atmosphere in downtown LaGrange.

“The goal is really just to bring the community together. We have over 30 vendors that are local food vendors and artisans that are selling things that they have made. We also have local bands performing and a group from Lafayette Center for Dance that will be dancing, and also from Tumbletown 2. It’s just a great way to bring the community all together and showcase some of our eateries and all the talent in our town,” said JSL member Regan Herdner, who is chairing this year’s event.

The event also serves as a fundraiser for JSL, which passes that money along through mini-grants and support for other local non-profits, including Good Sam Ministry, Habitat for Humanity and Feeding the Valley, among many others.

Colorful Leah and The Raising Sand Band are set to perform at this year’s event, which will be emceed by Kane Bradfield and Jack Mormon.

This year’s vendors include Beacon Brewing, BJ’s Catering, Bray’s BBQ, Brickhouse Grille, Chica’s Empanadas, Chicken Salad Chick, Crave Cookies, Ellison Brothers BBQ, Elotes De LaGrange, Gus’s Grill, Holmes Pizza, Kona Ice, Mache’s Creations, Pinky’s Burgers, Rocket Ice Cream, The Curry Man, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck, 505 Eats and Your Pie.

Artisans include: Art by Jade,  Be Happy Hat Design, Birdie Street, Chewy’s Freeze Dried Candy, Creative Call-Ins, Danielle Evans Design, Feather Branch Farm, Jezebell Design, Kimberleigh Kandles, Lions & Lambs Children’s Boutique, Nevaeh Seniah, Peachy T Design Studio, Pines and Pastures Homestead, Sisstuff Boutique, SpecialT Design, The Wild Daisy, Three Bears Candle Co, 3Ps Homestead, Tomberlin Originals and West Point Saponification,

Herdner said Taste of the Town is taking over as JSL’s fall fundraiser event in place of the former JSL Attic Sale.

“We just hope everybody comes out for this community event.  We’re excited about it,” Herdner said.

Overlook Plaza is located between Wild Leap Brew Co. and the new Nutwood location on Main Street in Downtown LaGrange.
