With a week before Election Day, just over a third of all voters in Troup County have already cast a ballot for the November election.
Through Monday evening, 16,853 early voting and absentee ballots have been cast in Troup County. That’s 33.8% of Troup County’s 49,843 voters, and we haven’t even finished early voting.
With about half of Troup County’s votes traditionally being cast at the polls on Election Day, it’s looking like we’re going to have a massive turnout.
It’s no surprise to Election Supervisor Andy Harper, who said there was also a large early voting and absentee turnout for the previous presidential election in 2020. Still, the turnout is high so far, he said.
Troup’s turnout is even more impressive when you compare it to active voters. While there are nearly 50,000 eligible voters in Troup County, only 43,636 are active. So, about 38.6% of all active voters have cast their ballots for the November election.
Statewide early voting records are also being shattered.
According to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, more than 2.9 million Georgia voters have already cast their ballots, which is 40% of all active voters.
As of Monday, the Secretary of State’s Office reports that 2,916,979 Georgians have already cast their ballots for the 2024 Presidential Election. A total of 2,739,787 have cast early votes in person, and 177,192 have submitted absentee ballots.
“Georgia voters know we’ve made it easy to cast a ballot. It’s really that simple,” Raffensperger said in a press release.
