Troup went on the road and lost a wild game to no. 5 Sandy Creek in the regular season finale, 55-48.

Sandy Creek had a chance to go up on its first possession of the game, but an interception from the Tigers on their own 3-yard line kept the game scoreless.

After a tame start to the first quarter in which Sandy Creek scored the only points of the game with a touchdown, the game produced fireworks in the second quarter. The Patriots scored two quick touchdowns in the second quarter to take a commanding 21-0 lead, but the Tigers did not roll over.

It looked like Troup got on the board with a muffed punt recovered in the end zone, but the referees declared the ball went untouched by the Patriots, who marched down the field and scored a touchdown to go up 28-0.

Troup eventually did get on the board when Javarris Warner returned the ensuing kickoff 68 yards to the house. The Tigers would keep up momentum when Greg Houston blocked a punt that was recovered in the end zone to cut the Sandy Creek lead to 28-14.

Sandy Creek scored on a long quarterback run with 1:21 left to go in the first half to retake a three-score lead. The Tigers would throw the final punch in the first half when Warner took a handoff 78 yards for a touchdown. The Patriots lead 35-21 heading into halftime.

The Tigers took that momentum into the second half. Garrison Edwards would hit Ja’darion Maddox for a 56-yard touchdown pass with 6:48 left in the third quarter.

After a long stoppage in play in the fourth quarter for an injured Sandy Creek player, the Tigers offense got back to work and eventually tied the game on a 1-yard touchdown run from Warner.

After a poor kickoff that set up the Patriots near midfield, Sandy Creek went right down the field and retook the lead with a touchdown. A blocked extra point kept the Sandy Creek lead at six points, 41-35 with 4:18 left in the game.

The Tigers were unphased and Edwards responded with a 60-yard rushing touchdown with the extra point from McCarty Harrelson putting the Tigers up 42-41 with 3:25 left in the contest.

The Patriots would respond with a long touchdown run, going up by five points with 2:17 left on the clock.

Edwards hit Warner on a swing pass for a long touchdown on fourth down with under a minute to go in the game that would put the Tigers back up.

The Patriots would go on to score the winning touchdown with just 25 seconds on the clock as Troup could not tie the game up with the remaining time on the clock.

Troup ends the regular season 5-5 overall and 4-4 in region play. The Tigers finished fifth in the region and did not get an automatic playoff spot and will await to see if they earn an at-large bid to the 3A state playoffs, which they likely will with their win.
