Frankie Mathis Hadden, age 94, of LaGrange, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Olin Mathis, Sr. and Ruth Hilson Mathis, and by her beloved husband, John Lawrence Hadden.
She is survived by her two sons, Wayne Hadden (Sallie) and Wendell Hadden (Shelia), and by her daughter, Lynn Hadden. She is also survived by her grandchildren Will Hadden (Christina) of Stephenson, Virginia, Josh Hadden of Denver, Colorado, Luke Hadden (Maureen), of Denver, Jake Hadden (Erin) of Atlanta, Georgia, Saralynne Hadden Evans of Atlanta, and John Christian Evans of Madison, Wisconsin; and by her great grandchildren, James Hadden, Mary Charles Hadden, Eleanor Hadden and Henry Hadden, all of whom were a source of great joy to her.
Mrs. Hadden was raised during the depression years on her parents’ farm in Glascock County, Georgia, and she never forgot the value of hard work and the importance of family.
Beginning in 1964, she and her husband John owned and operated the Western Auto Store in LaGrange for decades, and even today they are both remembered with fondness by a large and loyal following of former customers.
She had a strong Christian faith and lived that faith daily. She was an accomplished pianist, in her younger years providing musical accompaniment for gospel quartets and singing conventions throughout east and southeast Georgia.
She served as pianist and choir director for several churches in LaGrange, including Lakeview Baptist Church, for which she served as pianist and music director for 30 years. She loved her music, and her music was her ministry.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. at Lakeview Baptist Church, LaGrange, Georgia.
The Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 A.M.. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens in LaGrange.
