The City of LaGrange is honoring Jay Bartlett for his dedicated 30 years of service. He received his 30-year service pin at the  regular LaGrange City Council meeting Tuesday (11/12) night with his wife Gina  and family by his side.

Bartlett was hired in August 1994 as an Equipment Operator in the Landscape  Department and took advantage of every opportunity, continued his education, and rose through the ranks to become one of the City’s top managers in the Utility  Department.

Comments from Bartlett’s first performance evaluation were indicative of what  was to come when his supervisor wrote, “Shows initiative on the job. Wants to see it done right. Is courteous and conveys a positive image of the City to the public.”

When applying for the General Foreman position in 2007, Bartlett promised to  focus on developing quality management and overall customer satisfaction, which improved under his leadership. In 2013, he was promoted to Superintendent of  the Electric Division, overseeing annual revenue growth from $44 to $55 million  and adding over 1,000 new customers, including several large industries. Bartlett  supervises 23 highly skilled linemen and tree trimmers, a directional drilling crew,  and the inventory coordinator.

Throughout his career, he has completed numerous training classes, many offered  by the Electric Cities of Georgia, an important statewide organization where he  currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors. He has always  enthusiastically accepted new responsibilities and is one of the City’s most  valuable and top-performing employees.

Bartlett loves the outdoors and spends his free time as a commercial fishing guide  in Florida and a tree removal contractor in Troup County. He is married to Gina,  and they have two sons, Will and Wesley, both Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
