Troup County is switching from WeCare to Veracity Healthcare as the county’s healthcare clinic services provider.
In August, the county posted a Request For Proposals (RFP) for their employee healthcare clinic. Six bids were received, though one was not accepted because it arrived late. Of those RFPs, the bids were narrowed down to three companies, WeCare, Urgencare and Verocity, which were interviewed and scored based on the services they would provide.
Purchasing Director Diana Evans said Verocity scored the highest of the health care services providers, which County Manager Eric Mosley said was the staff recommendation.
“The goal is for this new entity to take over on Jan. 2 They will basically utilize our existing facility. Our hope is that for our clientele to utilize the facility, so employees and their dependents see very little change,” Mosley said.
Mosely said they have spoken with some of those currently offering services and they’ve had some indication that some existing nurse practitioners will stay on with the new company.
We hope that will be a very easy transition. So when you show up on Jan. 2, other than the name may have changed, hopefully you won’t miss a beat,” Mosely said.
Mosley said that the county will save upwards of $2.1 million over the next five years by transitioning to Veracity.
Veracity will also provide additional services beyond what WeCare offers, including extended hours and after-hours telehealth consultations.
Veracity was also the low bidder. Mosley said the overall costs were about $988,000 from Urgencare, $843,787 from Wecare and $828,292 from Veracity.
The commissioners unanimously approved moving forward with entering into an agreement for clinic services from Veracity.
