On Sunday afternoon, Tournesol in LaGrange will host its annual Shop with a Purpose event.

The event is hosted each year around Thanksgiving and serves as the shop’s holiday open house.

During the Shop with a Purpose event, Tournesol will serve food, mostly brunch items, and have music, along with discounted prices, but the real purpose of the day is to give back to the community, said owner Will Titman.

A portion of the proceeds will go to Circles of Troup County, a non-profit that works within the community to help people escape poverty.

“This isn’t something we do to make money. This is something we do to celebrate the season, which is all about giving. So it’s about giving back to the community,” Titman said.

Titman said they will have plenty of free food, which is being catered by Tara Ogletree.

Shop with a Purpose has been held annually for the past few years and typically sees lots of participation. He said normally, they have a couple hundred people or more coming through.

Titman said last year’s event raised $2,000 for Circles.

Titman invites everyone out to Tournesol this weekend to help support a good cause and pick up some Christmas gifts.

Tournesol is a large general gift shop in the Hillside community. The shop features everything from a boutique section selling women’s clothes to jewelry and kitchen gadgets, pots and pans, and gourmet food. The shop also has a children’s section, and importantly for this time of year, lots of Christmas decor and ornaments.

Shop with a Purpose will be held Sunday, Nov. 24, from noon to 4 p.m. Tournesol is located at 612 Lincoln Street in LaGrange.
