Barbara Brown Ball passed away peacefully on Dec. 10th at WellStar West Georgia Hospice surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born on October 26, 1943, to parents Hubert and Louise Brown.

She graduated from East Atlanta High School and attended Dekalb College. After graduation, she worked for Western Electric Corporation as an executive secretary and was a model for a major advertising agency in Atlanta, Georgia.

In 1967, Barbara met Charles R. Ball on a blind date. They were married six months later on November 24, 1967. They spent their honeymoon, two days, driving to Chicago, Illinois where Charles had accepted a new job.  While in Chicago, Barbara worked as an executive secretary for the chief financial officer of the Greyhound Corporation.

Charles and Barbara moved to LaGrange in 1974 after Charles accepted a career job with Milliken. In LaGrange, Barbara worked as the Director of the Troup County Division of the American Heart Association.

Barbara’s life was a testament to her strong Christian faith and her calling to witness to those she would meet in the grocery store, restaurants, or in her home. She and Charles are members of First Baptist Church on the Square and served as teachers and department heads in the senior high Sunday school department.

Barbara is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Charles, her two daughters, Nicole Ball Kennedy (Ken) and Julie Ball Small (John), four grandchildren, Catherine, Walt, Ashton, and Emma and one great-granddaughter, Charley Mae. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Sandra Brown Conley and Kathie Brown Suttles.

According to her wishes, Barbara was cremated. Her ashes will be buried at Whispering Hills in a private family burial.

Barbara bravely fought multiple myeloma cancer for six years. The family would like to thank Dr. Lawrence Gynther and his excellent care team for the quality care at the Emory Clark-Holder Oncology Department. We rejoice that her earthly struggle is over, and she is safely home with her Heavenly Father.

The family would like to thank and give a special “SHOUT OUT” to the staff at WellStar West Georgia Hospice- a great team of loving, caring, smiling, ever present individuals. Each of them became and will remain part of the family.

Come and join the family for Barbara’s Celebration of Life and enjoy a time of fellowship on Dec. 18th from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at Del’Avant Event Center. Lunch will be served.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to WellStar West Georgia Hospice, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, GA 30240.
