The LaGrange girls basketball team won its first region game of the 2024-25 season on Saturday, trouncing Whitewater 54-20 at home.

The Grangers defense was swarming all night and did not allow a single point in the first quarter and it took until almost halfway through the third quarter for the Wildcats to crack double figures in scoring.

LaGrange was in complete control from the offset and took a 23-point lead after the opening quarter. By halftime the Granger lead stood at 29-6 the home team continued to pour it on.

With such a commanding lead heading to the fourth quarter, LaGrange coach Mike Pauley could tinker and experiment with his lineup over the final eight minutes. Eleven total Grangers got in the scoring column as the offense was largely shared on the evening.

Madisyn Booker led the Grangers with 13 points. Peyton Swint was the only other LaGrange player in double figures with 10 points.

This was the second-highest-scoring game of the season for the Grangers, just behind the 57 points the team scored two games ago in a dominant win over Riverdale. This game just served as another marker for the improvements made since the opening game of the season.

LaGrange improved to 4-10 overall and 1-5 in region play. The Grangers are enjoying one of their best runs in recent memory, having won three of their last four games—the only loss in that span came to powerhouse Sandy Creek on Friday. LaGrange will look to make it two wins in a row next Tuesday as the team travels to take on Trinity Christian for another important region clash.
