LaGrange Police have arrested a man accused of robbing an elderly woman who was out on a walk.

Sunday evening, about 5 p.m., officers with the LaGrange Police Department responded to the  600 block of Cherokee Road about reports of a robbery.

Officers arrived and made contact with the 72-year-old female victim who stated she was out for a walk when a young man snatched her cell phone and threw her to the ground. The victim stated she screamed, and the unknown suspect fled on foot.

The victim described the suspect as a young black male, wearing gray sweatpants and a dark hoodie.

Later Sunday evening, around 6:30 p.m. police were investigating an entering auto that was reported in the 200 block of North Greenwood Street when Kiian Hodnett was taken into custody.

Police say the investigation into both crimes revealed that Hodnett was responsible for the robbery on Cherokee Road and the entering auto on North Greenwood Street.

Hodnett, 20, was arrested and transported to the Troup County Jail where he was charged with robbery by snatch and entering auto.
