The Troup girls basketball team made it two wins in a row on Tuesday night, dominating Mary Persons 61-30 on the road for another critical region win.

The Tigers brought their A game on defense and absolutely suffocated the Bulldogs in the first half. Mary Persons could muster a measly six points over the opening two quarters.

The Troup offense might not have been on the top of its game in the first half, but it did not matter as the Tigers built a 10-4 lead after one and a 27-6 lead into halftime.

Both offenses got a bit more traction in the second half as Troup outscored the Bulldogs 34-24 across the final two quarters.

It was a breakout party for freshman Makayla Reed. Reed was tied for the team lead with 14 points.

The offense was largely spread around with junior Sheniyah Philpot also notching 14 points in the game. Seniors Raygen Godfrey and Jaz Williams scored 10 and nine points, respectively.

Troup improved to 11-4 overall and 7-2 in region play. The Tigers will be back on the road on Friday to take on the bottom team in the region standing, Whitewater.
