Nashville duo Goldpine is coming to LaGrange.
The husband and wife duo will be bringing their bold harmony-driven Americana stylings to Pure Life House of Music on Feb. 1. Ben and Kassie Wilson of Goldpine offer a mix of country, folk and rock that is not to be missed.
“Everything is harmony-driven. As a live performance, we’re two people on stage, but we try to make as much noise as we can,” Ben said, saying the duo play a variety of instruments.
The duo has been performing for 15 years after getting married 16 years ago. Ben said he has been playing guitar since he was 12 years old.
“My brother taught me a couple of chords on our old Sears silver-tone guitar. Even before that, I was writing some poetry, and I just always loved the way that you could express words to an audience,” Ben said. “After my brother taught me the chords, I was like, I can put these poems to the music and be a songwriter, and it just went from there, and I just loved it ever since then.”
Kassie grew up in Alabama, and her family listened to a wide variety of stuff, which led to her singing for a living. She moved to Nashville at 19 years old to sing mainstream country music, he said.
The duo’s rise has allowed them the opportunity to perform on NPR’s Mountain Stage with Kathy Mattea and perform the National Anthem for the reigning Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs.
“It was our first time doing that,” Ben said, of performing the National Anthem. “It was a really special experience. The energy on that field when you walk out of that, you walk through the back tunnels of the stadium, then you do the tunnel that leads to the field, and then it just opens up to 76,000 people cheering on this field. Man, the energy is so inviting. It’s just unreal.”
Ben said it was an honor and a really special experience because he was able to bring his parents.
“My dad’s a huge sports fan. For him to be able to go there and walk on Arrowhead field when there’s nobody in it. It was really an honor,” Ben said.
This won’t be the duo’s first time in LaGrange. Kassie and Ben performed at Pure Life once before.
“It’s such a cool listening room. You might see a little over 100 people. They just have a lot of great shows there, where the audience can feel like they’re a part of the music happening. The artist is telling stories and getting behind the songs and behind the music, interactive, connective experience for the artist and the audience,” Ben said.
The duo just started doing a brand new set list for their live shows, which includes most of the songs off the upcoming third album, appropriately called, “Three.”
“I think this is kind of an exciting part for us and the audience too. We’re still working out some of the kinks of how to introduce some of these songs. It’s a lot of new lyrics for us, so it’s just kind of an exciting thing, doing something new,” Ben said.
Goldpine will perform at Pure Life House of Music on Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at https://www.purelifelagrange.com/tickets-1/goldpine-friday-feb-1-2025.
