The Troup County School System has canceled school on Friday due to continued hazardous road conditions.

Out of caution, TCSS announced on Thursday that all TCSS schools will remain closed on Friday, Jan. 24, due to the remaining ice-covered roads in parts of Troup County.

TCSS is monitoring road conditions with the help of local emergency management officials and elected to keep schools closed, allowing for the weekend to help roadway conditions improve.

No school means field trips on Friday have also been canceled and all after-school activities, including all athletics.

The Troup County School Board meeting and work session originally scheduled for Jan. 21 and 23 have been rescheduled to Tuesday, Jan. at 2 p.m. (work session) and 4 p.m. (regular meeting).

“The safety of our students, staff, and community is our top priority. Please continue to avoid travel if possible and stay safe during these winter weather conditions,” said TCSS in the announcement.
