The LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of The Remy apartments with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday morning.
The 186-unit apartment building located on Commerce Avenue in LaGrange is now leasing to the public. Some of the amenities inside the expansive courtyard at the center of the apartments are not quite done, but Property Manager Brett Brown said they expect them to be completed by March and ready for outdoor weather.
“LaGrange is growing, and everyone needs a home to live in, so it’s a perfect opportunity to provide that for everybody who’s wanting a home,” Brown said.
Brown said one of the goals of The Remy is to create a community. He said the layout of the property, with its center courtyard, will help create a sense of community due to its layout.
The name for The Remy was created as a play on the new Remington Arms plant, which had just come to LaGrange when work began on the new apartments. Like most of the new apartments in LaGrange, The Remy will provide homes to Troup County’s growing workforce.
The Remy will feature a 24-hour clubhouse and fitness center, along with a billiards room, and a shuffleboard table.
“We have a really nice resort-style pool and a built-in outdoor kitchen,” Brown said.
Plans for the unfinished courtyard include a Bocce ball court, a hammock garden, a putting green and a shared community garden.
The Remy will have an even mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
“We have one bedroom, one bath, two bedroom, two bath, and three bedroom, two bath,” Brown said.
Brown said the floor plans are on the larger side, with three-bedroom apartments going up to 1600 square feet.
“Our one bedrooms are starting around $1350, two bedrooms are starting around $1670 and three bedrooms start around $1900,” Brown said.
