Local Christian musicians Jeremy Conroy and Phillip Tidwell have released a collaborative Christian hip-hop album called “The Twins.”

Conroy is from LaGrange and goes by the stage name “G3RM 43.” He and Tidwell, whose stage name is “St. Retro” released the album on Jan. 17.

Both young men are homegrown from LaGrange, with one having graduated from Troup High School and the other from Callaway High School.

The two have been working on the album for about a year and it’s finally polished and ready for all ears. The album has 15 songs and is about 42 minutes long, Conroy said.

“It’s a diverse Christian album. It doesn’t stick to one style of rap. There’s multiple styles of rap,” he said.

Conroy said they came up with the name “The Twins”, to project an image of them relative to each other in the Christian hip-hop scene, not as a duo. He said they are both part of a music collective called, YOF, which is short for Youth on Fire.

“We’re not really chained to each other. We’re all individuals. We just co-align in this collective. But the album, specifically, is about me and St. Retro. It’s a collab album,” Conroy said. “This album is more covering us as brothers. It’s called “The Twins”, so it’s more focused on mine and his relationship,” Conroy said. “We’ve always been together since the beginning. So we decided to do a big project.”

“I’ve been involved with music for about six years. About four years ago, I really started trying to really get my life dialed in with Christ. That’s when I started making Christian hip-hop music. This album was inspired about a year ago, halfway through switching into Christian music,” Conroy said.

Conroy said the album has seen some success since its release two weeks ago.

“For our level, this is our first release, right now we’re surprised and pretty proud of what it’s doing,” Conroy said, noting he had personally released 12 singles before the album.

The album, “The Twins” is available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and other music services.
