According to a press release by the Hogansville Police Department, “On Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, the Hogansville Police Department received the complaint and has placed an officer on administrative leave following an allegation of sexual assault.”
Captain James Vincent said the officer was placed on leave within an hour of the complaint being made. The complaint was made by an adult who works in Hogansville.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been requested by HPD to conduct an independent criminal investigation into the matter. The Hogansville Police Department has also requested an outside agency to conduct an administrative investigation, which Vincent said will be done by the Peachtree City Police Department.
The officer, whose name has not been released pending the investigation, was immediately placed on administrative leave upon receiving the allegation.
“The Hogansville Police Department is committed to transparency and accountability and will provide updates as more information becomes available. This is an open investigation, and information critical to the investigation cannot be released at this time,” the release stated.
Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact the Georgia Bureau of Investigations or the Hogasville Police Department.
