The LaGrange Academy boys cross country team captured its first region championship in program history on Thursday.
The Warriors were led by eight grader Collier Baker who finished the course in 18:13 and finished first by nearly a minute over the next closest runner — Alex Jarvholm, also a Warrior, who finished in 19:12. Levi Dolinger and Inness Silcox each finished in the top five to claim All-Region spots. Zach Tures, Martin Zachry and Colm Silcox all finished top 10 and will also represent the Warriors at the state championship meet on Oct. 29.
The girls team also put in a big performance at the region championship and claimed second place. Anna Beth Kinnersley finished first overall by nearly 30 seconds over the next closest finisher. Ella Grace Chamblee was the other Warrior to earn all-region honors. Jazmin Thornton and Laura Knight also finished in the top 10 and will be representing the Warriors at the state meet next Saturday.
