Letter: Hunnicutt transparent, humble

I would like to let the citizens of Troup County know why I am such a huge supporter of Bill Hunnicutt to be our next tax commissioner.
I worked for Bill for several years and had an office next to him the whole time. Unless he had clients in his office taking personal information, he never closed his door. I could hear most of what he was dealing with on a day-to-day basis. I was so impressed with how transparent and honest he was with everyone he dealt with.
In our business, there are inherent conflicts, especially between underwriters and sales people. I was always amazed at his management skills to handle those conflicts. He had a way of unifying people upset with each other by reminding them of the big picture and long-term plan.
He is incredibly smart when it comes to business and financial issues. He could understand very complex transactions quickly. The one that stands out to me the most was when his accountants couldn’t ever seem to grasp the entire business flow of our loans, he literally built a full-proof accounting system for his company using only excel. His friends that also owned similar companies could not believe it.
Lastly, he is the hardest working guy I know. He would never ask an employee to do something he was not willing to stay and help them with. We didn’t mind working hard for Bill because he always treated us with respect. He always said “My employees work with me, not for me.” His humility is overwhelming.
I hope you will join me in voting for Bill to be our next tax commissioner. I am so excited that a person of his integrity, wisdom and leadership skills will be a part of my county government!
