The Troup defense led the Tigers to a 48-37 win over region foe Riverdale on Saturday.
It was not always easy but the Tigers defense suffocated the life out of the Raiders offense. Troup led 14-6 at the end of the first quarter and kept that eight point lead intact heading into the halftime break. The Tigers stretched their lead out to double figures heading into the final quarter and kept any chance of a Raider comeback at bay.
Alexcia Murphy was her usual dominant self, scoring 17 points in the game to lead all scorers. Angie Dowell scored 11 and Sheniyah Philpot had 10 points to help spark the Tiger offense. Raygen Godfrey scored eight while Autumn Bulloch had two points to round out the scoring for Troup.
The Tigers improved to 8-8 overall and 3-3 in region play. Troup climbed up to fourth place in the region 4-4A standings. The Tigers will be back on the court Tuesday away to region opponent Starr’s Mill.
