The Long Cane wrestling team are the state champions in duals. After a long season, the Cougars traveled to Peachtree Ridge High School on Sunday and needed to rattle off three straight wins to claim the title, they did that.

Long Cane battered Cambridge in the first round 63-16 before dominating North Hall 69-21 to book a spot in the state title match against Jefferson. This was anything but domination as the Cougars escaped with a narrow 44-42 victory in the championship match to bring a state title home to Troup County.
