Not much went right for the Lafayette Christian girls basketball team on Monday as they got hammered 60-8 by Community Christian on the road.
The game was out of hand in the blink of the eye with the Cougars trailing 24-3 after the first quarter. It did not get better from there as Lafayette Christian struggled to mount any sort of consistent offense. After scoring three points in the opening quarter, the Cougars scored two points in each the second and third quarter before scoring a single point in the final quarter of play.
Leah Ward finished as the Cougars leading scorer with three points while Reagan Bryant and Anna Kate Bakarich each finished with two points. Leading scorer and the team’s most consistent player — Carmen Bridges — was kept quiet with just one point in the game.
Lafayette Christian fell to 2-11 overall and 0-6 in region play. The Cougars will return to action away to Flint River Academy on Thursday before taking on Creekside on the road in their regular season finale on Friday.
