Callaway could not get much going in a 73-41 home loss to region-leading Columbia on Friday.
The Cavaliers were in a hole early and trailed by 17-2 after the first quarter as the only offense they could muster was a Qua Whitfield two-point basket.
It did not get better for the Cavaliers from there as they trailed 37-12 going into halftime. The offense came to life in the third quarter and scored 20 points but the defense continued to be a problem as Columbia was able to score 29 in the quarter.
Javontae Parker led the team in scoring with 10 points. Javen Cochran came off the bench and scored nine points. DeShun Coleman finished with eight points while Tyrus Edwards connected on two 3-pointers to finish with six points.
The Cavaliers came into the game winning five of their last six games with their only loss a narrow two pointer to non-region opponent Newnan last Friday.
Callaway fell to 11-9 overall and 10-4 in region play. The team will finish second in the regular season region 5-2A standings and will get a chance to earn a home playoff game in the upcoming region tournament.
The Cavaliers will close out the regular season with a non-region game against Valley (AL) on Saturday.
