Alexis Jones said her childhood dream was to own a boutique dedicated to fashion and hair.

Jones said her passion for hair started when she was  12 years old.

“I sort of fell into it young and decided to stick with it throughout high school. When I graduated, I went straight into cosmetology school because there was just nothing to do around here,” Jones said. “But I’ve always had a passion for it and loved to help others feel empowered through their hair.”

Jones is the CEO of Alexis Stylez, a wig and fashion boutique.

“My business is a one-stop shop,” Jones said. “You can pick out a wig, get it installed and also shop for clothing at this same location. I consider myself the Walmart of hair because I have everything you need for like hair purchases and hairstyles.”

Jones said what sets her apart from other businesses is her ability to provide more than hair services to her customers. Alexis Stylez currently offers haircuts, natural hair services, dreadlocks, braids and clothing options from sizes 2T to 6X.

Along with offering hair and fashion options, Jones said she teaches clients different techniques on how to style and take care of their hair.

“I teach people how to make their own wigs, how to install their own wigs, how to do their children’s hair, or if they want to become an entrepreneur and become their own boss I help teach them that as well,” Jones said. “There is something powerful about being able to effectively take care of your hair. It may sound corny, but when you feel good about how you look, you take that positive energy everywhere you go and that’s what I want to do for women.”

Jones said being able to do your own hair or even get it done is like a form of therapy.

“I hate to see anybody with a bad hair day, and I like to make people happy. I love helping other women feel empowered. While in my space, I want my customers to feel like this is a stress-free place where they can be themselves and get beautified,” Jones said.
