Troup bashed its way to the first win of the season in a 13-1 demolition of Northgate on Tuesday. 

It was a tightly contested affair before the Tigers blew the game open in the fifth and sixth inning. 

Ty Medders got the scoring rolling for the Tigers when he reached home plate on a wild pitch in the top of the first inning. Carson Walker scored on a wild pitch in the top of the second inning to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. Medders, a senior, hit a big double to drive in another run in the second inning, which allowed Troup to take a 3-0 lead to the bottom of the second. 

The Tigers were able to keep generating quality offense and scored a run in the top of the third inning when Garrison Edwards delivered an RBI single. 

The Vikings got their lone run in the bottom of the third inning and looked as if they could get back in the game before the Tigers closed it out late with some brute force.

Medders once again delivered a RBI double — this time with two outs to get the action rolling in the top of the fifth inning. Medders finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored while playing quality defense behind home plate. 

The very next at bat, Reed Morris picked up right where he left off last season and blasted a three-run homer over the center field wall. One pitch later, Josh McDonald joined Morris in the dugout after trotting the bases after hitting a solo home run of his own to give the Tigers a 9-1 lead.

The Tigers poured it on from there and added another four runs in the sixth inning. Carson Spears walked to drive in a run before Morris hit a single to drive in another run. Morris was a steller 2-for-5 with four RBIs and a run scored. McDonald hit a sacrifice fly to score a run before Jaxson Duncan lined out to drive in the final run of the night. 

Devon Murphy got the start on the mound for the Tigers and was outstanding in his four innings of work, allowing just three hits and one earned run on four strikeouts. Murphy passed the torch to Spears for the final two innings as he limited what the Vikings could do offensively as well, allowing just two hits on two strikeouts. 

After a nail-biting loss to Harris County in extra-innings to start their season, the Tigers got right back on track on Tuesday.

Troup is now 1-1 on the season. The Tigers will lay in a tournament on Friday and Saturday starting with a game against Creekview on Friday.
