Baswell and Brown shine in Cavs home win

The Callaway girls soccer team had no problem brushing past Central Carrollton 3-0 on Wednesday.

Autumn Brown was one the stars of the show, scoring a goal and providing an assist. She scored the opening goal of the game in the first 10 minutes and then played provider later in the half when she cut back a ball inside the 18-yard box that was cooly dispatched in the corner of the net by Mary Kate Baswell. 

Baswell bossed the midfield and earned an assist as well. 

The Cavaliers scored an insurance goal in the second half when Isla Garcia curled in a beautiful strike that had mouths drop around the field. 

Kate McAteer also had an assist in the game. 

Raine Hunt worked hard in goal to earn a clean sheet, making nine saves on the day. It was her fourth clean sheet on the season with all of them coming in the last five games. Mya Lawton was a rock in the back for Callaway and consistently cleared out danger from the Callaway box. 

Callaway has now rattled off six wins in a row to improve to 6-1 on the season. The Cavaliers have outscored opponents 35-6 so far this season as their hot run of form continues. Callaway will host New Manchester on Friday for its annual Kicking Cancer game with proceeds going to benefit cancer research.
