Heartbreak for the Cavaliers.

The Callaway boys basketball team saw their season come to an end on Wednesday when they suffered a 68-62 overtime loss to Washington.

The game was full of momentum swings and the last one swinging to the Bulldogs. 

The Cavaliers got rolling early and were able to capture an 18-14 lead after the opening quarter. The offense stalled out in the second quarter, only scoring five points which saw their lead turn into a five point deficit going into the halftime break.

The third quarter was back-and-forth with the Cavaliers only able to trim the deficit to four points heading into the fourth quarter. Callaway rallied and sent it to overtime but ran out of gas on the road, getting outscored 12-6 in the overtime period. 

DeShun Colmen laid it all out there for the Cavaliers, scoring a team-high 18 points and had all six of Callaway’s overtime points. 

D’Arcy Harris put together a good offensive performance with 13 points. Tyrus Edwards connected on three 3-pointers for his nine points. 

Callaway could not contain the duo of Daylon Johnson and Noah Treadwell who scored 24 and 22 points respectively. 

Callaway finished the season 13-13 and exited the playoffs in the first round for the second year in a row.
