LaGrange suffered a heartbreaking defeat on the road to Northside on Wednesday with the Grangers losing 5-4 on a walk-off in the 10th inning. 

A game that was on a razor’s edge saw the Patriots make one more play than the Grangers. 

Northside had all the momentum early, scoring two runs in the first inning and another two runs in the third to take a 4-0 lead. 

The Grangers bided their time and struck back with a run in the top of the sixth on an RBI triple by Seth Stargell. LaGrange could not capitalize further but found a foothold in the game offensively. 

The Grangers were able to mount a seventh inning rally to prolong the game, and it all started with a balk allowing Cooper Stephens to score. Trey Cook hit a two RBI single to cut the deficit to just one run. Preston Pressley scored the tying run on a wild pitch, but the Grangers would end up rueing their missed chances as they left a runner on second and third. 

The Grangers offense went quiet in extra-innings as it took an extra nine outs for the Patriots to escape with a win. 

Cook was the key player offensively for LaGrange, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk. Gryson Cockrell had a solid game as well, going 2-for-4 with a run scored. Stargell and Pressley had a hit apiece. 

Trevor Booton got the start on the mound and went four innings. Robbie Parker pitched five innings in relief and impressed, allowing just two hits on eight strikeouts. 

LaGrange has now lost four in a row to drop to 6-5 on the season. The Grangers will look to rebound on Saturday away to Gadsden City.
