The Troup County Archives & Legacy Museum is now a part of the North American Reciprocal Museum Association (NARM).

NARM is an extensive network of hundreds of cultural institutions across Bermuda, Canada, the Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico, Mexico and the United States. Their memberships allow unique access to benefits in art, science, history, botanical gardens and more.

Victoria Larcheveaux, archives curator, said becoming a member was a smooth process.

“As part of the requirements, we had to provide year around benefits to our patrons in the form of free or discounted admission and savings in our gift shop,” Larcheveaux said. “We already offered both so we are able to expand upon those benefits by having them offered with all of the perks our members can get from joining at the NARM level.”

She said some perks include access to over 1,000 museums across North America, as well as gift shop discounts.

“Knowing that we are now part of NARM is incredible. Not only do people get access to our resources, but other places as well. It helps to further our main mission of providing education and resources to people not only about Troup County but about other places as well,” Larcheveaux said. “History and education are a big part of what we do, so being able to expand upon that with other institutions is really rewarding.”

Larcheveaux said the Archives is now listed on NARM’s along with thousands of others including the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia and The Columbus Museum.

“Adding more benefits to joining the Troup County Historical Society allows us to reach a wider audience and spread our knowledge and love of Troup County with people who may otherwise have not gotten the chance to learn about us,” Larcheveaux said.

Eligible members of the Troup County Historical Society now have blue membership cards with gold stickers on them, which allows them to take advantage of all of the benefits from NARM.
