The Troup County School System will be closed again Tuesday due to road closures around the county and how those closures would impact bus routes.
Superintendent Brian Shumate said TCSS is aware of 11 road and bridge closures, spread all throughout the county. Up to 40 of TCSS’ 135 bus routes would be impacted by the road closures, he said.
Employees will report to work on a normal schedule, working with their supervisor if unable to make it to work.
“Based on continuing road conditions and 11 road closures and 40 bus routes being affected, we are making the call to cancel school tomorrow,” Shumate said.
“We are hopeful water levels and creeks and streams will subside over the next 24 hours
and we can reopen schools on Wednesday, March 29,” TCSS said in a press release. “However, there may be
situations that require alternative routes as roads are being repaired. The school system will continue to monitor road conditions and provide further updates as necessary. Thank you for your support and patience as we strive to ensure the safety and health of students and staff.”
