The Easter Bunny is on the fast track to making its annual appearance this year. Local organizations and businesses are set to host egg hunts this upcoming weekend and Easter weekend.

Community Bank and Trust will host its second annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on April 1 at Sweetland Amphitheatre at Boyd Park at 11 a.m.

The event is free and will include 20,000 plastic candy and toy stuffed Easter Eggs that will be spread across the park along with $5,000 in golden eggs, which will contain varying amounts of cash.

“We are all very excited to host our second annual Easter Egg hunt. We had an incredible turnout last year and are working to make it bigger and better this year. We have more activities planned as well as a whopping $5,000 in cash hidden in various eggs,” President and CEO Steve Jefferies said. “We want to give a huge thank you to our host venue Sweetland and also to our amazing team at Community Bank & Trust for the countless hours they’ve spent to build what we hope becomes a unique and special tradition for the community.”

The hunt is broken down into three categories. At 11:30 a.m., children four and under will begin their hunt. At 12:15 p.m., children five to seven will take their turn and at 1 p.m. children eight to ten will take their turn at the chance of getting a golden egg.

Along with an epic hunt, there will be face painting, bounce houses, food trucks, balloon artists, shaved ice and a DJ.

Point University will be having its Easter Eggstravaganza at West Point Park on March 30. Everyone from the community is invited to attend the event from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

An easter egg hunt will begin for the kids at 5 p.m. After that, there will be a bounce house, egg decorating station and concessions to enjoy.

“We want everybody to come out,” said Associate Dean of Students Illya Lawrence. “We want at least 400 children to come.”

Point University Student Athlete Advisory Committee is partnering with their local partners, Spring Road Church and New Dimensions Worship Center.

Point University held an easter basket giveaway last year. This time around, Lawrence decided to incorporate a new event into the community inspired by one from his hometown.

“We all know the significance of Easter,” Lawrence said. “The main thing is to give back to the community.”

Pay It Forward 2K15 will host its second annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the LaFayette Christian School Boyd Sports Complex.

There will be over 12,000 plastic eggs hidden with candy inside each egg. Egg hunters will also have a chance at golden eggs that will hold special prizes.

The event is free and will include free food and activities such as a wheelchair-accessible game truck, flag football, wooden egg race, sack race, guided horseback rides and more.

Egg hunting will be broken down into three categories: children four and under, five to nine-year-olds, and ten and older.
