The Callaway girls soccer team got a chance to test themselves against a heavyweight in their regular season finale, taking a 6-1 loss to 7A Carrollton on Thursday.
The Cavaliers struggled to find a way into the game at times but it serves as a valuable tune-up game before Callaway heads to the playoffs.
Carrollton blew the game up early with four goals by the end of the first half before adding two more in the second half. The Cavaliers lone goal came from leading goal scorer Kate McAteer.
Raine Hunt helped keep Callaway in the game by making seven saves and ensured Callaway did not get mercy ruled.
Callaway finished the regular season with a record of 14-4 and are two wins away from tying the program record for wins in a season set last year. The Cavaliers went 6-1 in region play and will enter the playoffs as a two seed. Callaway will be at home for the opening round of the AA state playoffs on April 13.
