A man was charged with DUI on Saturday after he struck a car, police said.

The arresting officer wrote in his report that when he arrived at the scene in the 900 block of Greenville Street, Scotty E. Pike, 29, “was standing in the street screaming, flailing (his) arms and cussing away.”

The officer said Pike appeared to be and admitted being drunk. He allegedly told the reporting officer that his girlfriend was driving, but witnesses said Pike was driving the car that reversed down Greenville Street and sideswiped a vehicle. No one was injured.

Pike was charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest/obstruction. The officer said Pike tried to resist getting in the patrol car and “screamed, threatened officers and others, cursed, etc., (and) disrupting the whole neighborhood area” before he was taken to Troup County Jail.
