Mrs. Bonnie “Gail” Tumlin, (79), of LaGrange, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023. Gail was born May 19, 1944, in Columbus, Georgia, to the late Ashby and Viola Hill Andrews.
A few years after graduating from Baker High School, Gail married the love of her life, Clyde David Tumlin, Jr., in 1966. They celebrated their 49th anniversary on Dec. 17, 2015, a few months shy of his passing.
Together they were Bonnie and Clyde, jokingly embracing their first names along the way.
Throughout the years, Gail used the education she gained from Perry Business School of Columbus in various jobs.
Upon retiring in 2002 from Milliken & Company as an administrative assistant, she was excited to spend time with her four grandchildren.
Gail was an active member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. With a servant’s heart, she served the church as choir director, treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and as a member of the benevolence committee.
Gail also gave much of her time and her heart to numerous nonprofit organizations, including American Red Cross, Interfaith Food Closet, and Good Sam Ministry, just to name a few.
She taught her girls to give of their time and of their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Donna Andrews McClintock.
Survivors include two daughters: Michelle Nation and her husband Curt of LaGrange, Cathryn Johnson and her husband Powell (Jay) of Tyler, Texas; four grandchildren: Jared and Dylan Nation of LaGrange, and Audrey and Powell Johnson IV (PJ) of Tyler, Texas; her sister Jeretha Langford, nieces and a nephew, and many other loved ones.
The family will be at the Tumlin family home on the evening of Wednesday, June 7th, 2023.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Thursday, June 8, 2023, in the chapel of Striffler Hamby Mortuary, with Reverend Anthony Hovey and Reverend Tom Owensby officiating.
Visitation will begin at Noon until service time.
Burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the American Red Cross, USO, Valley Rescue Mission, or a local food closet in the memory of Mrs. Tumlin.
