On Saturday, singer-songwriter Tinsley Ellis is set to take the stage at Pure Life House of Music at 7:30 p.m.

Pure Life Studios owner, Maggie McDonald describes Ellis as an iconic Atlanta blues player.

“He’s been around for years and people have followed him religiously. In his new show called Acoustic Songs and Stories, he will perform many of his most popular songs on his 1937 National Steel and 1969 Martin D-35,” McDonald said. “During the performance, as he plays the music he pairs it together with stories from a life over 40 years spent on stages all over the US.”

McDonald said she is excited for Ellis’ upcoming show and as of Tuesday, it has sold out.

“As a small independent business owner anytime you can sell out tickets it always does wonders for the Hillside area. The community is developing and to sell out a show tells people that you’re on the map and that it’s a place that people want to be,” McDonald said.

“If I want to continue to get these great artists, they need to see that we’re selling out, that we’re doing something in this town. Everybody wins when the show sells out.”

Ellis said his performance on Saturday will be his first in LaGrange.

“I am very excited to be coming to LaGrange and also very excited that the show sold out,” Ellis said. “Selling out the show lets me know that the folks in LaGrange have been wanting me to play there for many years. I’ve been doing music in the Atlanta area, and it’s nice that people are excited to come to hear me play in LaGrange rather than having to make the trip all the way to Atlanta.”

Ellis said that he is excited to meet up with a couple of friends and play new music.

“This is the first acoustic album that I’ve ever made. I have always made hard rock and electric albums. This will be my very first album with all acoustic, mostly original material. I am very excited about doing something different,” Ellis said.

“I’m looking forward to meeting up with some old friends and other area musicians have told me they’re going to come. I haven’t played in LaGrange before. There are not many places in Georgia that I haven’t played and I’ve been playing around Georgia for almost 50 years. So, it’s exciting but do something for the very first time and I can’t wait.”
