LaGRANGE — The food, love and support has not stopped flowing into the Troup County Sheriff’s Office and surrounding law enforcement agencies since the deaths of five Dallas, Texas, police officers on July 7.
A second round of baked goods and inspirational signs of encouragement flooded in again this week after three Baton Rouge, Louisiana, officers were killed by a lone gunman on July 17.
Folks from Rosemont Baptist Church poured their heart and soul into cooking hamburgers and packing lunches, drinks and snacks for the entire staff at the Troup County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday. The church members then delivered all the goodies to the sheriff’s office on 130 Sam Walker Drive.
“We really want you all to know how much we love and appreciate you,” Sandra Walker told deputies and staff at TCSO. “We pray for you. … We know you all have families and we really want you to go home to your families. We really, really want you all to be safe.”
Walker said the act of kindness was part of their “Missions LaGrange” service week.
“We’re just trying to reach out in the community and show our love and appreciation for all that you all do,” Walker told the staff.
Woodruff greeted church members at the door and helped serve his staff lunch. He also made sure extra food items were taken to the employees at the Troup County Government Center and left for the deputies working the night shift.
“I appreciate everyone that has brought food, snacks, cards and more for our officers,” Woodruff said. “In today’s times it is refreshing to see all the support our community has shown for us.”
Rosemont Baptist Church also served sack lunches to firefighters at the Troup County Fire Department this week.
