LaGrange police have identified the victim in the apparent murder at the Sunny Point Lake Access.

Kenneth Stanley Dial, 69, was found shot to death at the Sunny Point Access off of Mooty Bridge Road Monday morning shortly after 7:50 a.m.

Police say witnesses in the area reported hearing gunshots in area around 7:30 a.m. After entering the park to walk, an acquaintance of Dial located the victim just before 8 a.m. and called 911 for help.

Officers located the deceased victim near the picnic area of Sunny Point Access cul de sac, according to LPD Major Dale Strickland.

The initial investigation revealed that the victim had gone to the park to walk earlier in the morning, which was routine for him.

The department is currently investigating the case as a murder.

The incident is still under active investigation by the LaGrange Police Department Criminal Investigation Section.
