A man has been charged with murder for allegedly shooting and killing a man after a robbery attempt at Sunny Point Access Monday morning.

Billy Joe Tyler III, 38, has been charged with the murder of Kenneth Dial, 69. According to a LaGrange Police Department press release, Tyler attempted to rob Dial, who was likely taking his daily walk in the area. Then, he shot him and fled the area.

Tyler was arrested on Park Avenue Monday evening around 9 p.m.

Tyler was on active felony probation for a robbery that occurred in the metro Atlanta area.

The shooting incident occurred before 8 a.m. Monday.

Another walker, who knew Dial, located the victim just before 8 a.m. and called 911 for help. Witnesses in the area reported hearing gunshots in the general vicinity around 7:30 a.m. Monday morning.
